Disappearing egg shells!

For science week, we tried to get the egg out of the shell without breaking it. Can it be done? Of course it can, if you use a little science. We put an egg in a clear glass and covered it with vinegar. First we saw some bubbles forming. Then some froth was visible in the jar. After a few days there was no shell left on the egg. We put on some gloves and felt the egg. It was very spongey. For extra fun, we decided to leave the egg in the vinegar to see what would happen. The egg got very big! We took it out and tried to bounce it. It didn't break on the first try but guess what happened on the second? Yes, that's right......SPLAT!

The broken pencil!

Today we broke a pencil without breaking it!! That's right, we just used a little Science.. We are learning about light at the moment. We did a simple experiment in class. Check out the picture below. It looks like the pencil is broken but it wasn't! We are really enjoying writing about our experiments. First we write the title, next we write our goal. Then, we make a list of materials we need and finally we write the steps involved. Science is cool!

Science Week!!!!

Oh what fun we are having in Room 9 this week for Science Week!! We are learning to work scientifically, doing lots of different experiments. Our teacher says some experiments need patience so we are working on that! We made water walk from one cup to another cup using just tissue paper. Check out our pictures!

The cup on the left was an empty cup and the black line shows how much liquid was in the first cup. It moved through the tissue into the other cup!
